IN THE PRESENCE OF AN ANGEL!
Have you ever been in the presence of an angel?
Angels are real servants of God, who in their faithful service to God often show up in the lives of His children in their time of need, thank the Lord.
I met an angel yesterday! Different kind of angel but so real and so important in a time of need!
Remember Big Red, and our need for help to get to my Duke appointment? How would Debby and I get there in time? The Hotel Manager sprang into action, reached out to their shuttle service, and explained the urgency of our situation. The shuttle driver, Ms. Gwen, was told of the need, and could she come quickly? She arrives as fast as she can, and even helps get my wheelchair into the shuttle. She lets me sit in the front seat, since I am a big man… keep hearing that a lot lately! 😂
As Ms. Gwen settles into the driver seat, I am stunned…I see my mom! Right now fighting this brain cancer I find myself pretty blunt and honest with my throughts, they just flow. So instantly I say, “You look just like my mom Ms. Gwen!”
She bursts into laughter, and so do Debby and I, as Ms. Gwen is African-American! I say, “Ms Gwen I know I sound stupid, but I just looked at my mom just then.”
I explain to Ms. Gwen, that her beautiful shiny short curly hair, is just like my mom would style her hair later in life. In addition, Ms. Gwen has a lovely round face with a radiant smile, just like my mom! When Ms. Gwen talks, her voice was one of comfort and compassion, a gift my mom shared often with her children. My mom loved life! She embodied joy! She loved to share stories. She was radiant with wanting to help others in need. Yep, Ms. Gwen, at that important point of need, flooded my soul with joy!
Guess what? Short trip to Duke from hotel BUT discovered Ms. Gwen loves Jesus!!! She says quickly after we arrive, “would you please let me bring you to ALL your appointments???” WOW! God showed up again during Big Red disaster! What darkness meant for harm, God transformed to good!!!
Two additional thoughts right now:
1. We know of our struggle with race; it’s a diverse and deep spiritual concern we all should desire not to allow darkness to trap us in! How blessed Ms. Gwen and I were, Black and White, two believers who loved on each other in a time of need! Precious!!!
2. Have you been in presence of an angel? Yeah I know Pastor Jerry threw a curve ball about angels with you, BUT I know they do exist, and Yes I have experienced the presence of real angel… that story will have to wait. However, sure would love to hear your view on angels, when you have some time.
THANK YOU JESUS!!!
