COOL RUSH MIGHTY WIND!

Have you wondered recently IF God still speaks with His children?

To speak I mean, actually share words with His children?

Well, HE DOES!! I can share that right now, in midst of this brain cancer fight, I am powerfully experiencing a relationship with Jesus where we actually share words with each other.

Ok, pause, how does that sound to you? If I was you I hope I would say, Thank You Jesus! 😃

However, honestly I think I would have many different thoughts. First, what does Pastor Jerry mean when he says Jesus and him share words? I will answer this question in a few minutes but first let’s be honest with each other.

As a boy growing up fishing in the most amazing fishing grounds of the Outer banks of NC,  I have vast experience of catching fish! One spectacular aspect of fishing offshore with your buddies is what happens over next days after an exciting catch, miraculously the fish caught continues to grow after being consumed by us!! 😂

Pastor Jerry and Jesus sharing words, hum? Fish story…or real…your choice to make. If it’s ok, I will just share one story with you of what happened this week and you decide for yourself.

Important Background: my mask fitting experience at Duke was…best two words…horrific experience! Up front Duke staff awesome, this my problem. I am a mouth breather and have severe allergies. I had no prior experience with knowing the warm heat used to form the mask. I am strapped down on table, they begin forming the mask, air around my head and face get very warm. Quickly I realize I am struggling to breathe! The heat and my allergies, plus mask with no actual mouth insertion built in it creates a situation where I am struggling to breath. Deep breaths needed, hard to get air, fear begins quickly to rise over the bow of my soul! That’s the background to story.

Battle day, first hot cup of coffee, Jesus and I having AWESOME time together!!

I step out in faith, smiling with myself as I say Jesus would you please bring a cool fresh mighty wind today when I use the mask for first time? I pick my words carefully, cool, fresh, mighty wind; what I believe I will need today. Sorry, by way important for me to share, I actually ask Jesus this by speaking these words out loud, just like you and I would be talking. I ask because I believe He can! I believe Holy Spirit could bring such a wind today. Word of God says to ask, am talking with Jesus during that first hot cup of coffee, so I ask.

I wait….however right now I hear nothing back from Him. This is different right now because we talked often this morning. So, I just say: Jesus I would appreciate cool, fresh, mighty wind today. However, Lord it be Your will be done. With that I needed to get ready for trip to Duke.

You wonder what happened this afternoon at Duke University Hospital, NC? Are you willing to trust me? Are you willing to believe?

You ready…here it goes…YES cool, fresh, mighty wind showed up!! Yahoo!! PTL!!

BUT…not as I thought!!!

Right before Duke tech is to leave, I simply ask, is there any way I can get some fresher air on my face? She is not sure, area very protected. But then she said…wait minute I believe I know of small plastic fan; do you think that would work? Yes, please I responded quickly!

She brings in fan, places it in my hands, works with me a few minutes, and I have cool, fresh, mighty wind!!!

She turns to start treatment next room, and I throw up my arms and shout THANK YOU JESUS! Suddenly, “Mr. Lewis please Sir, you cannot raise your arms or move at all during treatment, and you must not talk!”

I burst into deep laughter, tears of joy run down my face, I say these final few words to Jesus, You do have a sense of humor!!!😂

Big fish story? Your choice.

Right now I am having amazing FUN!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.   Philippians 4:6-7
