FAITH WALKING: ABRAHAM AND JOSHUA!

Good morning! Today, we have something from the Holy Spirit, inspired by a devotional from the Bible App I use daily. I am so EXCITED to share with you this incredible tool of PRAYER-WALKING!

When God gave Abraham the pledge of the Promised Land, he also gave Abraham an intriguing command to “Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you” (Genesis 13:17).

When Joshua took the reins from Moses, he had the big job of leading the people into the Promised Land and conquering it. Knowing how fearful Joshua was of such a huge undertaking, the Lord gave him many wonderful promises. One had originally been given to Moses: “Every place where you set your foot will be yours” (Deuteronomy 11:24; also see Joshua 1:3).

Joshua began to experience the power of this promise when he led the people to follow the priests as they stepped into the flooded Jordan River by faith before it opened for them to cross. When the priests stepped in by faith, the waters parted and they and the other Israelites passed on dry land (Joshua 3:15–17).

After that, Joshua saw the promise kept again in a different way when he faced the task of conquering Jericho. Located near the Jordan, Jericho was the key to conquering the Promised Land. As the city of moon worship, God wanted it destroyed. But that posed a problem.

The walls around this impregnable city were so thick that you could drive a chariot around the top. There was no army on earth that could hope to attack Jericho and succeed. Therefore, the Lord gave Joshua a unique battle plan.

He was to take the ark of the covenant and march his army behind it around the city once a day for six days as the priests blew their trumpets. On the seventh day, they were to march around it seven times. On the last time around, the people were to shout for victory.

When they shouted the victory call, the walls fell in. Jericho was breached and then totally destroyed (Joshua 6:20, 21). Again the faith to step out in obedience to the Lord was rewarded by power of Gods Spirit showing up!!!

PAUSE: Let’s take a deep swig of our coffee and soak in what we just heard! In fact, if needed, go back to the top of this reflection, and slowly chew on the words again!

QUESTION: Now, is your heart and your mind open to the reality of the power of Faith-Walking? This is when we desire and trust for the power of the Holy Spirit to show up.

You may be pondering, where I can I use this Heavenly tool?

Well, perhaps we start at home! What IF we each soon decide to “Faith-Walk” around our home? Now, stay with me, let’s go wider, let’s take a “Faith-Walk” around our neighborhood, WOW! Brothers and sisters, the options of employing and using “Faith-Walking is unlimited!

I would highly recommend after your home, to turn to your business!

What about your local church? How fascinating it would be to gather on a Saturday morning for a breakfast and then a “Faith-Walk” of around your church, WOW! As we make this walk, we focus on calling upon the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit to fall upon our pastor, our worship service, the ministry of our church! We lovingly lift up ALL that will take place in our church building and trust our Heavenly Father to come with a fresh, perhaps double portion, of the anointing of the Holy Spirit, HALLELUJAH!!!

A few of you may be asking, Pastor Jerry, as we walk, what are we thinking, or saying, or contemplating? Great question! My response is a simple one: before you take the first step to Faith-Walk, pause first to turn the faucet onto the power of the Holy Spirit to flow freely in your heart and mind! Simply affirmed, faith-walking has no one set of rules or process, and never should! Move out in faith, with thoughts you sense are being guided by the Holy Spirit in you!

Ok, Pastor Jerry, that is great, but how do I open the faucet?

I do not possess the knowledge of how one turns on the faucet, in fact it would be an error for me to even think to share something like this to you!

What I can do right now is to simply share with you a guide, grown out of my own experience of faith-walking. Try to empty your mind, take a few deep breaths, and simply affirm Jesus. You can say, “I am here; I am yielding this walk to You! So, Lord, right now, I ask You to bless this walk by the presence of the power of the Holy Spirit! As I take my first step, and all other steps, I yield them to You Lord, and I trust in the power of the Holy Spirit to show up and guide my thoughts! In Jesus name, Amen!”

Praise Jesus! I would love to hear about your faith-walk experiences when you have them!
